This one is grown as much for the foliage as the fruit. The leaves are boldly striped in cream and green and blush hot pink in strong sun, making it a genuine landscape specimen — and then it produces a small, intensely sweet pineapple on top of that.

The fruit is smaller than a commercial variety but the plant earns its place before it ever fruits.

Care notes

Sun drives the color — the more it gets, the pinker the leaves. Leaf edges are spiny, so site it away from walkways. Otherwise identical in care to any other pineapple.
